Cricut Gift Boxes – Style 1
The first gift box features wrap around text and I used the green foil poster board from the Bejewelled package. I have used screen captures to walk you through a visual tutorial, and will write out the steps below as well.
1a. Decide on your text for the wraparound design. I used the font “Close to My Heart – You are Here” which is a Cricut font, so you can easily create the same design. I typed two lines of text in size 31:
- Line 1: * Merry Christmas * Joyeux Noel * Merry Christmas * Joyeux Noel *
- Line 2: * Joyeux Noel * Merry Christmas * Joyeux Noel * Merry Christmas *
I copy and pasted each line twice, and then staggered all six lines until I liked the design. I then selected all six lines of text and welded them together.
1b. We want to clip the text that is hanging over the edges and flaps of the gift box. To do this, select square from the Shapes menu on the left hand panel. Unlock the square so you can size it to a rectangle, and then use the Arrange tool to move it behind your text.
1c. Size the rectangle to line up with the edges of your box as shown in the image above. Select the shape and the text layers, and hit slice in the bottom of the layers panel on the right hand side.
1d. The slice tool will give you a bunch of layers. If you aren’t sure which layer you should keep, spread them out and keep the one that lines up with your box lines. Delete the extra layers.
1e. Line the text up as shown in the image. Click on the layer “slice result” and change the cut to a score line.
Lastly, I added a couple of asterisk on the top and bottom flap of the box, because they looked like snowflakes! Just type them as text, resize, and change to a score line.
Select all layers and choose attach before hitting “Make It”.
