1 Supply, 20 Friendship Bracelet Tutorials

My daughter is a lot like me – a huge crafter. You should see the exotic creations she comes up with. She loves to share them too, bless her heart, but what’s one to do with a newspaper hat that has leaves, tree branches, and flowers glued on?
I wanted to find a way to share new options for crafting and gift giving and thought about how I could doing this without crushing her creative soul by saying “Get that hat out of my house before there are critters crawling around!”. That’s when I remembered how my friends and I would spend hours making friendship bracelets out of embroidery floss that we would snatch from our mother’s cross stitch stash.

Friendship bracelets are the perfect solution for several reasons – first of all, it’s fairly cheap.  Most patterns only require one supply – the thread. It’s also low mess – unlike the garden covered newspaper hats.  Lastly, making these bracelets are great for helping develop fine motor skills and great coordination.  How many kids crafts can boost all of that?

I had my daughter try several of these with me, and we created a bunch for her school friends for the end of the year – this would also be a great activity to entertain your l’il ones during those rainy summer days or on long car rides. Or have a bracelet making party!
There are all sorts of patterns out there, with everything from bows to beads, but here are 20 tutorials that I love best for kids, whether alone or as part of some quality time with mom. Here they are:
