Now, the rest we will learn as we go. To start, we will create a simple image using a background, a couple of images, and some text. First, choose your background. To do this, click File->open.
You will see a box similar to when you opened your background. Again, choose your file. I chose the pink journal card.
I made the width and height equal to create a square, 3.8 inches wide and high. After I pressed the scale button in the dialogue box, I was left with this pretty square.
Anyway, there you have it – the basics of using GIMP, and truth be told, almost any photo editing software, because they have many of the same tools. It may take a few minutes to find the equivalents in a different program, but trust me, they are all there since they are the basics. Hope you enjoyed, and stay tuned for the next tutorial, where I will show you how to make some cute printables for your parties!
