So I’m taking a break from the crafts and DIY today to talk about something I’m in the middle of… potty training! I have a three year old daughter who is fully potty trained in the day, but at night – not so much. Potty training at night time has been a struggle so far. No big deal, just wear a diaper to bed, right?
Wrong. Once she had a taste of big girl life (that is, life without a diaper), there was no going back for her. Bedtime became a total hassle, because she would fight to not put the diaper on. We tried leaving it off, but she wouldn’t make it. We were so frustrated, until she gave us a little clue into what we should do. One night, she just blatantly said “Why don’t you just wait until I’m asleep and put it on me then?” Good idea, little miss! However, my daughter hates being disturbed while she is sleeping, and it was honestly like trying to get an octopus into a laundry bag! We could never get those tabs done up before she rolled back over on her tummy. It took two of us just to put the thing on. That’s when a friend recommended night time Pull-Ups® – and to be honest, I didn’t even realize they made overnight Pull-Ups®. I thought they were all the same, but nope! They not only have boy and girl designs, they have ones that get cold (Pull-Ups® Training Pants with Cool Alert®) or fade their designs (Learning Designs®), and ones with extra protection for night time. Yep… total sanity saver. I can pull them on her whether she is lying on her back, tummy, or any other way she may be choosing to lie (believe me, she has some weird ways). Then, when I found this $3.00 off coupon (and they were on sale for $11.00) I thought I better stock up! I went to the Pull-Ups® website, where I was given the opportunity to download a $2 coupon or share and download a $3 coupon. (Guess which one I chose?!)
While on the website, I found some really cool features too, like customizable activities. I loved this nighttime checklist that I am printing for my daughter – I wonder if she will put it on before bed if she gets a check mark for it?
There are also lots of great resources, including an article I found about Night Time Training Success. They also have an app that you can download (available on specially marked packages of Pull-Ups®) to track your child’s progress and it helps you celebrate their milestones! Fun, right? Do you have littles at home? What is/was your biggest potty training challenge? I hope I’m not alone on this night time thing, it seems to be lasting for-EV-er! Leave me a note and let me know, and then hop over to the Pull-Ups® website and grab yourself a coupon!
