My friends, if you’ve been here before, you know that my Cricut Explore is pretty high on my list of loves. It’s so high, my daughters sometimes question where they fit in my life (I kid… slightly…) It’s my number one crafting must have, and I would be so lost without it. (Actually I wouldn’t be lost, I would still be cutting out circles for my daughters fourth birthday party. She’s six now.)
And while you can grab your Cricut Explore right out of the box and use it as is, there are some must have Cricut accessories that make life even easier. (Yes, it is possible!)

Anything with the word wireless instantly draws me in. Wireless printer? Need. Wireless headphones? Check. Wireless toaster? I’d even buy that. So when Cricut announced (way back in the day) that the Explore would be wireless, I knew which side I was joining (I had been in romantic discussions with another cutting machine, until the Explore swept me off my feet.) If you still have the original Explore and aren’t ready to upgrade yet to an Explore Air 2, this accessory is my number one must have. Sure the Explore works when you connect it to your computer, but that’s another cord you don’t need in your life. Less cords, less mess <— my motto!
Seriously y’all, I love the Cricut pens. I not only use them in my Cricut either, I carry them around and use them as regular pens. Where else can you get 30 gorgeously colored pens for under $35? If you only want a few to test the waters, my favorites are the Wisteria Set and the Everyday Set.
#3: A 12×24 mat
Sometimes you just want to cut a big image. Or you want to make a whole bunch of smaller cuts in one pass. By having a larger mat, you double your cutting surface and enable your Cricut to cut something huge – both in size and impact.
#4: A tool set, especially the weeder and scraper
The weeder is probably my most used Cricut tool. This thing makes weeding easy by grabbing even the tiniest piece of vinyl. The scraper is also super helpful – it can scrap any unwanted debris or stuck on material off your mats. (I just saw that they have this XL version in the shop now, I may have to order that one!) If you order the original tool set, it also comes with THE best scissors in the world, a pair of tweezers and a lifter. The new color coordinated tool sets however (loooove the mint set!) also come with a scoring stylus and a portable paper trimmer with both a cutting and scoring blade.
#5: A deep cut blade
So the Explore blade is pretty awesome. I’ve raved about it before, both here and here. However, if you want to cut thicker items like craft foam or leather, a deep cut blade is a safe bet. It’s still the same high quality blade as the regular Explore blade, but it allows you to cut so much deeper (I know, I know – duh! That’s why they called it the deep cut blade.) You can even cut intricate designs like I did with the cuff style bracelet shown above, which is still one of my all time favorite Cricut projects.
And the one item I’m just dying to get my hands on, but that I don’t own yet –
these gorgeous tweed bags and totes.
I love the shoulder bag (I would totally take that one to work – I’ve been searching for a cute and stylish laptop bag that holds more than a laptop!) and the machine tote is a must if you ever travel with your machine. Hmm… Mother’s Day is coming up, isn’t it? Maybe I’ll have to start dropping some hints!
And there you have it – the 5 must have Cricut accessories, and the 1 awesome wishlist item. Do you agree with my list? What items would you add? Let me know in the comments below or share a picture on instagram and tag me in it – I’m @becomingmartha. I can’t wait to hear from you!
