These Duck Tape bookmarks are a really fun, easy, and low mess craft to do with your kids! They’ll love making their bookmarks their very own!
I have to give credit where credit is due – this idea actually came from my daughter. She was running out the door to the bus and needed a bookmark. She grabbed the closest thing she could use – her roll of bacon duck tape – folded it over, and went on her way. I naturally thought, “That’s such a cute idea for a bookmark!” and when she came home, her and I got to work creating some cuter versions of her makeshift bookmark.
These are really easy to make, and it’s a fun way for kids to be creative. There are so many patterns of Duck Tape available now, that you aren’t limited at all in your creations!
Duck Tape Bookmarks – Supply List:
- Duck tape, regular sized and/or mini rolls
- baker’s twine or embroidery thread
- scissors
- hole punch
- embellishments (optional)
To start, cut two pieces of duct tape about six inches in length – don’t worry about measuring them, this isn’t an exact science! You can cut one long piece and fold it over but I found it was easier to not get air bubbles if they were separate pieces. Once stuck together, cut off any sticky overlap and cut down to whatever size you want – ours ended up being about 1.5″ wide and 5″ tall. You can also round the corners if you want.
Punch a hole in the center of the top (we used a mini hole punch, but a regular sized one will work too). Cut three pieces of six inch twine, fold in half, and pull the loop through the hole. Then, pull the loop over the length of your twine to make a tassel.
All that’s left to do then is the optional step of embellishing! We added some rhinestones to this one with the polka dot tape, and added an S monogram sticker to the zebra pattern.
Easy, right? I love that it’s a craft that both boys and girls could be into, and they can make their own however they want – take them shopping in the Duck Tape aisle, and trust me, they’ll have a blast!
