If you’re looking for a super cute Halloween goodie that won’t rot their teeth but will still excite the little ones, this is it – Halloween Play-doh Make Your Own Monster Kits!
Play Doh is one of my daughters absolute favourites, so when she saw the giant 80 pack, I had no choice but to buy them for her classmates this Halloween. She just about freaked out when she saw all of the cans and all of the colours… it was like heaven to a five year old.
Of course, I wanted to jazz them up a little, so I created these Halloween Play-Doh “Make Your Own Monster” Kits, that I created using this free printable and some supplies from the dollar store. These would also be great as a party favor if you were throwing a Monster themed party, like we did a few years back – too bad I didn’t think of these back then!
If you want to make your own, here’s what you’ll need:
- Play-Doh Mini Cans
- Pipe cleaners
- Pom poms
- Googly Eyes
- Snack size ziploc bags (Mine measured 4″ x 6.5″, so the free printable will be 6.5″ across.)
- Free printable bag toppers
- Stapler
I cut each pipe cleaner into four pieces, and added 6 pieces to each bag. I also added four pom poms and four googly eyes, along with the play-doh.
The last step is to fold the bag toppers in half and staple onto the top of your bag. Voila! Instant Halloween cuteness, all in under 15 minutes!
Enjoy!

I do daycare, this is a perfect gift for my kiddos!
Thanks for sharing!

What a cute idea! The link to the printout was perfect, just click and print. Plus, I only spent $6 and made 16 kits with lots of ziplock bags and craft supplies left for another project. I can’t wait to see what the kiddos make now.
(you should have given yourself credit on your printouts though with your website. I would have left your name on for others to see since they know I don’t have ideas as cute as this)
Thanks for sharing!

That’s awesome! I bet the kids will have lots of fun creations ๐ And thanks for the tip, I’ll definitely have to do that in the future!

Hi love the idea. Where did you find the large play doh pack?
Sarah says
Hi there! I found mine at Winners (the Canadian equivalent of TJ Maxx in the US). Hope that helps!
Monique says
Did You use cardstock paper or regular printing paper?
Sarah says
I think I used cardstock, but either would work!
Sine Smith says
Do you have a picture of the finished monster? do you have instructions for putting the monster together?
Sarah says
No, as there is no right or wrong way to put the monsters together. Its just for the kids to have fun with – some use one eye, some use all, some use the pipe cleaners for arms, some use them as antennae. Anything goes in these types of projects – and then they can take it apart and make a new kind of monster ๐
Sam says
Love the idea but how do you create the monsters? Do you have a finished product picture?
