You all know me by now, and you know that when I throw a party, it’s all out. This girls night was supposed to be no different. We had planned a “Pinterest Party” theme – each guest was going to bring a pinterest inspired recipe and we were going to make a pinterest inspired craft. I had all kinds of decorations in mind. And then, as I was starting to create the decor, the massive microburst storm hit and knocked out power to our area for over 24 hours (and we were the lucky ones – many are STILL without power). A fancy, awesome party was out the window, but girls night wasn’t.
As mentioned in my last post, my friends parents were generous enough to let us use their cottage, and even gave us their generator for an hour to prepare a couple of quick dips and run our glue guns. However, the phone lines were also down, so loading the craft instructions were out the window. We were winging it!
It didn’t matter, we still had fun and created a cute project. We made wreaths with old newspapers that we found when we were “shopping” in the old abandoned farmhouse. I really wanted to crinkle the pages, but we were having a difficult time figuring it out without the instructions. The other plan was to cover it in these little rosettes, but we couldn’t run the glue guns that long. So we just improvised some more! Please don’t mind the pictures – we were running on very low lighting here to save electricity!
These little wreaths are so easy to create. We used grapevine wreaths (and I used a jute twine wrapped wreath that was leftover from my Hunger Games Wreath last year). We cut circles out of the newspapers and cut them into swirls and rolled them up to create a rolled rosette, like the ones I made with felt on my spring wreath. Then, we dabbed a little white glue on and dipped them in glitter to add a little sparkle to the edges.
They ended up looking really cute considering all of the obstacles! After we finished crafting, we had to go wash the glitter and glue off our hands. Now you know glitter – it sticks to everything and even water doesn’t always get it all off. I didn’t want to leave glitter all over my friends’ parents’ towels, so I was very happy we had the kleenex hand towels. Wash, wipe, toss. No glitter anywhere but in the trash! My friends couldn’t believe how soft they were, and loved them. They said they were a perfect product for a party, which was the same thing I thought when I discovered the product.
Oh and if you are wondering what happened to my little wreath, well when I got home, I added a wooden letter that I had covered in washi tape – it was now perfect!
In case you haven’t entered the giveaway to win your own prize package including these hand towels, from Kleenex, head over to my facebook page and “like” this post to be entered to win!

Thanks Meegan! The monogram was so easy – forget ever painting letters again! Washi tape is where it’s at!

I love this, Sarah! You ladies did an incredible job, especially for just “winging it!” Wish I lived close enough to crash the party next time 🙂
