Create this drop cloth Christmas banner in 15 minutes and with only three supplies. It makes a great prop for those Christmas photos!
This week, I was so excited to have my sister come visit. She lives half a country away, so we only get to visit with each other for a day or two a year. Since she is a photographer, I always seize the moment and have her do our family photos for our Christmas cards. As she was driving in, she mentioned how it was too bad that I didn’t make a banner to use in the photos. It was less than half an hour until the photo shoot and sunlight was fading fast, but that was pretty much a challenge.
I created this Christmas banner in less time than it took to dress my children for their pictures! All it took was:
- some scraps of drop cloth
- heat and bond
- a piece of fabric (mine was from the Moda Aspen Frost Layer Cake)
I love that the Explore cuts through fabric like butter. The key? Using a good stabilizer like Heat’n’Bond. I ironed it onto the back of the fabric before attaching it to the strong grip mat.
I used the font Don Juan (one of my absolute faves) to create the text in Design Space, and then hit the Go button and had the letters cut out. After that, all I had to do was iron them onto the drop cloth pennants.
How to Easily Cut Drop Cloth Pennants
The drop cloth was cut easily using a rotary cutter, and measure 6″ wide and 9″ long. I folded them in half and snipped off a triangle from 3″ up on the middle fold to the corner edges. It’s so simple you don’t even have to really measure much!
Now, if you don’t have a Cricut Explore yet, make sure you put it on your Christmas list, and watch out because next week, I hear there will be an awesome deal for Black Friday. I’m so excited to see what the folks at Cricut have up their sleeve! You should head over and fill up your cart now in preparation for the big sale – I know I am!
I'd love to hear from you! Leave a comment!
